Bluetooth suck for anyone else?

I've got the Jabra JX10, had it for a while and never really use it. When I first got the phone and had the original Verizon ROM (2.0?), sound quality and range were excellent. I could be about 30' away and still have great sound quality.

I upgraded to the Verizon 2.2 ROM and quality went down the crapper. I was getting noise in my conversations when the phone was in the holster on the other side of my body. The crappy quality was consistant when moving away from the phone, but range went down to about 10'.

I'm using Sar's 3.5PR6 release now and quality still sucks, but distance is up to around 15'.

IIRC, Verizon dropped the Widcomm stack in favor of MS between 2.0 and 2.2....is my memory correct?

Is it possible to go back to the Widcomm stack with 3.5? I remember reading somewhere that it's not compatible. If it is, does anyone notice an imporovement in sound quality using it?

Or can anyone recommend another BT headset that will work well, good quality and decent range? I own an IT company so I'm always on the phone with some tech support and need both hands free. I never need to be all that far from the phone...10' is usually the max, and I almost always have it holstered when I'm on the phone except when I'm in the truck.

Thanks for your help.

I too experienced a degradation in range but my quality remains great. My voice command accuracy is around 95% or higher. But I don't use it often in really crowded places.

I had the exact same experience you did. The original phone with ROM 2.0 worked perfectly with bluetooth. used a Motorolla H400 or something that was outside the ear and nver had problems with volume. I could hear fine while driving down the freeway. Well since upgrading to ROM 2.2 and every other rom after that I have been forced to change my headset to something that goes into my ear now to even be able to hear the thing.
