Need some help. Trying to install the new update but I keep on getting a ocnnection error on both my vista PCs: "the ROM upgrade utility isn't designed for your device."

Obviously Vista is the issue. Any help is appreciated.

valenciag: I did finally pull out all of the MSN data from the registry as part of the clean up process. I supose I can look up all the edits and get them too you if you wanted to re-add them. I just finally decided to pull them all as most people do not use it and the added reg data slowed it a bit.

mmicha: Double hecked my comm manger and did veify that the exit and setting softkeys were there and did work. Can any other PR6 users verify that it is an issue for them? May be a 3rd part app or another reg change/hack you added?

BrunerMA: I just use the listed cabs above on my sprint from my factory sprint extended rom. Those are all I recomend and all I have been using. they will setup the data and provision other sprint specific features (like ##codes). I have had no other need for other cabs to be loaded. Other apps may need other things so your milage may vary, but out of the box with those cabs on sprint will do all that the rom should need to work for you.

romulus15, mgioia2: So by de-asociating them and then re-asociating them in mort, causes the new ringers to still work? Or does re-asociating them break it again?

romulus15: Running at 620 may just be due to me running the registerd version as this is a different exe. The trial is a limited copy and may have some issues at a highter speed. I also do not run it all the time, just whne I need it which is not very often, but at full screen xvid videos, I will kick it in as the bitrates are a bit high for the ppc6700 at default speed, but lower bitrates work fins at default. Even running a2dp BT As to notifications. Make sure you check the right box in sounds as I did this by mistake once. I have also noticed no notifications while in activesync.

maximum360: I donlt run Vista so I can not be of any help here. If you don;t get feedback from another user try posting in the main forum as Vista is not supported for the Rom install tool.

CommManager -Softkey Mapping

This issue occurs right after ROM install, I have no other hacks or programs installed at that point.

I do let the Verizon customizations go through though.

Basically, it seems to leave the sotkey choices from whatever other screen / program you are running before you start CommManager, the softkey choices don't seem to update when CommManager starts.

Any place to check the registry for the proper settings?

Not directly related to this rom, but ..

Looking to upgrade to PR6 tonight/tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has set up a good or fairly automated process of backing up personal setting and the like to reinstalled after an upgrade, as a whole system backup via spb backup will overwrite various tweaks and all.

I am just getting tired of reentering my name, mail settings, and a few reg tweaks

Since I'm too new, it won't let me post links, but do a search in the forums for vista flash and select search for all terms. There will be a thread titled vista flash with a link on how to do it.

It's a PITA and I can't verify it works as I don't want to boink my vista box. I just break out my trusty XP Pro laptop which will never be able to run Vista.

Good luck.

Soft reset before VZW installs. You don't need any of their stuff, and if there is something you do want to add you can do it by unlocking the ext rom.

sar: I can verify the softkeys in Comm Manager are Notification and Contacts and neither is functional. I never noticed as I use the Today Screen Wireless area to modify my settings.

Re-asociating mp3's in Mort causes them to break again?

As to notifications, I have Play sound (notify), Display message, and Flash light for (No limit) set. I did just get a notification of new message, but haven't gotten any before this one. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Since it's the end of the day, I also just noticed that I'm not getting the low battery notification sound any more. I just get an icon, which is the wrong icon as well. I get the "new message" notification icon, not the low battery icon. Clicking on the notification shows proper "main battery low, replace" balloon. Could this be a side effect of wisbar?

LadySaat: Thanks for that link. It's awesome. Maybe someone can grab it and make it a sticky? Very helpful.
