you can't "add" internal storage memory... internal memory is used for some things that you just can't (safely) avoid...
* PIE (Internet explorer) cache - clear the cache frequently if you do a lot of web serfing. * Message storage (attachments can go on your card) - keep just a few days worth of email * PIM data (contacts, calender, todo) - nothing you can do here, but usually this is at most a meg or so * applications that run in the background, or on the Today screen - installing these on the storage card can cause lockups * ringtones, notification sounds - also can cause problems if on the card, keep 'em small Given all that, you'll want a 2gig card (these are under $40) where you can install all your *other* apps (other then the today apps), your mp3s, your photos, your notes/docs, your email attachments, audio books, etc. If you're of a technical bent, you can "cook your own ROM" and move a lot of the apps you use regularly into the operating system ROM, where they take up no storage space at all. I did that myself, and my custom rom with the apps I use all in it leaves me with 33+MB free internal store, which doesn't hurt speed... apps load from ROM a bit faster then from the storage card, that's for sure In general tho, if you're not running out of space, your ppc will not run much faster or slower with a lot or a little free internal store. 6MB isn't a ton of space, so you should check for stuff to delete or move to a card (I know, for example, the Sprint version has about 6MB of "Audible" sample files that can be moved to card or deleted...) |

have a 2gig card with almost everything on there except pocket plus/diary, phone alarm. all pics and sounds are on card except one for my ringtone. i do have several medical programs, but they are loaded on my card but i think they put a small file on the phone. what i really wish i could do is get rid of all the MSN crap. i run at almost 7mb free now after getting rid of stuff like the templates for pics.

you really should look at either rolling your own rom, or nabbing one with most of your apps in it. I have everything I use installed, including MSVC and SPB pocketplus/diary, and im running at about 32 meg....

Wideawakes intructions and that whole thread are a good resource, but you will probably want to use a kitchen to build your rom. I would suggest reading about kitchens here and on the wiki so you have a decent understanding of what it is. You can then start to create OEMs for your different apps that you want to install. You will want to check the ftp to see what OEMs have already been created.
There is an effort going on to create a bug free 3.5 kitchen. It is not released as of yet, but is gettig close.

if i went to a video and clicked send it would say "file format not supported". if i went to the MMS, clicked new flix message, you went to add one but in the "explorer" you could never find a video (cause i guess it didnt recognize them). i had done this thanks to JBabey...went in my config.txt and removed Apache_VZW_MMS3.0.6.24_20060124.CAB and getMMSCtxMenuInfo.CAB, that actually worked until i soft reset the phone, then it was back to the old file format not supported. I tried this on a couple ROMs too, same thing. btw im on verizon if that helps...

I'm having the same issue. I don't usually play with flix messages so I didn't notice it until now. I wonder if something is getting messed up in the registry settings??
