Please correct me :)

I’m a newbie so don’t really know much about how WM5 phones work.
I have a Sprint 6700 and as I understand it, it has:

RAM: 64 MB
ROM: 128 MB

I believe the RAM is used by the OS for processing of the Apps temporarily.
ROM on the other hand is divided into 3 parts:
1. Part 1 is locked and is used for preloaded Sprint software.
2. Part 2 is labeled as “Storage memory” and I can install programs there.
3. Part 3 is labeled as “Program Memory”. What does this part do? I have seen it fluctuating in size along with my usage of the phone. To me it seems like it is doing what the RAM is supposed to do.

As you can see, I am totally confused and I would appreciate it very much if some kind soul would please explain to me how this thing really works. Again, I might have got this ALL wrong.

Program memory = ram = 64megs

Rom =

1. radio rom = ~10 megs
2. ext rom = ~10 megs
3. OS rom = ~44 megs
4. storage space = ~64 megs (about 48 user accessible)

I am getting one of the PPC6700's as a replacement for my 6600, and confused a little about the memory thing too.
Used to install a lot to main mem on the 66, but not as much available on the 67, so will have to see what can go on Storage card.

Swwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttt
You have explained it very well....
Thanks chuque

So..... going by this theory.... the 6800 that is due to come out is not going to be that much of an upgrade as it too only has 64 MB RAM. I was hoping to upgrade to the 6800 when it came out because I cannot run any apps that are a bit taxing on the 6700's RAM.
