PPC 6700 Seidio 3200mAh extended batt not always charging??

I'm not sure what the exact problem is but here is what is happening:

I've got the Seidio 3200mAh Extended Battery from Seidio.....

http://www.seidioonline.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=445

It has an awesome life, but I am having problems charging it. I can always charge it via the USB cable connected to my computer. But it does not always charge via the AC adapter or the car adapter. It only charges about half the time on AC or car power. Has anyone else had this problem? It might not be the battery. It could be something else, maybe... like a software issue.

FYI, I am running the latest AKU and I've done most of the hacks on this website. So it could be a software issue related to that.

It's just a pain always having to charge via USB, and also not being able to charge and run on power in the car on long drives.

First question would be if you are using the UTstarcom supplied AC charger?

There are plenty of AC and car chargers that have the same mini-USB connection that fits in the 6700, but few will actually supply close to 1000mA. If that charger is much less than 800 mA, it is going to take a long time to charge a 3200 mA battery, especially if you are overclocking and/or connected to EVD-O or WIFI all the time.

You definitely shouldn't have a charger wiith less than a 500 mA as your phone overclocked and a wireless connection can draw that much and thus never be able to charge.

@o things to reduce your battery usage before connecting the charger. Close open progs, and connections, terminate services even (msvc...) and hold the power button for a couple seconds till the backlight is off. THEN plug in - observe if the light in the top right corner changes (orange = charging), once you see the orange light turn anything on you want back on.

Silly thing HTC did is if the current battery use exceeds the plugged in power - the power is not 'engaged' - so no charging...

I go thru this sometimes, but not that often, I'm always trying to keep my bat usage down, so usually it will start charging right away.

Good luck!

I have the same extended battery; but my issue isn't that it doesn't charge. My problem is that it seems to go dead within a few house; I can't make it through a whole day with it.

Funny thing, the battery that came with the phone gets me through the entire day.

Yeah, there is no way the 6700 is going to charge over the USB while tethering! An active EVDO connection is going to bring d@mn close to the 500 mA limit that is specified for a USB port. And if you tethering with a laptop, running on it's batteries alone (no AC cord plugged in) the USB spec says the laptop only needs to supply 100 mA to the USB port.
