use a car charger with the USB cradle?

Has anyone tried, or can you think of a reason not to try, using a car charging cable with the usb cradle? I can't think of any reason why it would be ill-advised. Thanks.

I do it, because it looks cooler standing up next to my coffee, I guess... ^^
