Re-establishing default browser...as IE...instead of Opera..

I installed Opera a while back when I had problems accessing certain websites which required the latest Java plugins thinking that was my problem.
Now I find that I didn't need Opera to begin with but still would like to keep it around for emergencies...
The problem is that it attempts to set itself up as the default browser but that option only works with certain programs that I run so it doesn't really work and I can't change it back to not being the default browser meaning that I can't open certain sites directly since it keeps giving me "Opera Launch" error messages....so I have to manually type the "link" address into my IE browser to open the site that I want....
A lot of the links to websites that I get will not open directly because of that and I hate to have to uninstal Opera just to attempt to fix that problem..
Any ideas, or is there some place in the registry where I can go to fix this problem....this is very annoying....
Opera has almost rendered web browsing on my phone unusable because of this glitch in the program itself....
Not only that but I can't even import or export my list of favorite websites...to or from Opera.....

thanks...
