Stupid move...any thoughts?

So the little grey rubber strip on the back of my 6700 fell off the other day and I decided I'd reattach it. I put some super glue in the slot, pressed the strip on, and waited 30 seconds for the glue to dry. Things seemed to be fine as the strip no longer came off.

However, what I didn't notice when I put the glue in was that the three slots under the strip were actually three holes that goes through the back to the battery. Long story short, I have successfully glued my battery cover to the battery.

The good news is that the phone still works great. The bad news is that I can't currently get the backing off. Any ideas for how I might be able to remedy this without damaging the phone or the battery? I'm afraid to try to force it off lest I break something in the process, but would like it off in the event that I ever need to change the battery.

Thanks,
Matthew

CTFUUUUU! yea, I've noticed superglue takes alot longer to fully dry these day's.. I miss the instabond.

only think I can think of is to break the battery cover by prying on the antenna side (so the battery comes out of its slot properly.) I think the little tabs on the cover should break before the slots on the phone cover do.

Yeah, they don't make glue like the old days!

I never knew acetone would disolve superglue...might have to give that a try.

Thanks for the ideas.

I don't even remember where I read about it, but I superglue my fingers so damn often that I figured I would try it. It doesn't completely disolve it, but it breaks the bond.

Re: Stupid move...any thoughts?

I think that at the very least, you're going to be buying a new door.
Pry the cover off and hopefully the battery comes with it. Remove gently with acetone (which can also be found in many nail polish removers). Hopefully you have a battery left... insert and cover with some tape or something until your new door arrives.
I would not suggest dipping the whole phone in acetone. Duh.
[I had to look up CTFU... that's awesome.]

Good luck.

I'm really glad I wasn't the only one who didn't know that particular acronym. I think I'll just wait until I have to remove it to do so. Maybe I will get lucky and it'll break free on it's own. Thanks for the ideas guys.
