Stupid move...any thoughts?
So the little grey rubber strip on the back of my 6700 fell off the other day and I decided I'd reattach it. I put some super glue in the slot, pressed the strip on, and waited 30 seconds for the glue to dry. Things seemed to be fine as the strip no longer came off.
However, what I didn't notice when I put the glue in was that the three slots under the strip were actually three holes that goes through the back to the battery. Long story short, I have successfully glued my battery cover to the battery. The good news is that the phone still works great. The bad news is that I can't currently get the backing off. Any ideas for how I might be able to remedy this without damaging the phone or the battery? I'm afraid to try to force it off lest I break something in the process, but would like it off in the event that I ever need to change the battery. Thanks, Matthew |

CTFUUUUU! yea, I've noticed superglue takes alot longer to fully dry these day's.. I miss the instabond.
only think I can think of is to break the battery cover by prying on the antenna side (so the battery comes out of its slot properly.) I think the little tabs on the cover should break before the slots on the phone cover do. |
Re: Stupid move...any thoughts?
acetone

Re: Stupid move...any thoughts?
Yeah, they don't make glue like the old days! :)
I never knew acetone would disolve superglue...might have to give that a try. Thanks for the ideas. Matthew |

I agree with shaggy, and then just go to a service center and im sure they should have a spare battery door. |

wouldn't acetone eat the phone too?

Re: Stupid move...any thoughts?
Yea, acetone will turn it in to a ball of molten plastic.

Fun Fun.

Re: Stupid move...any thoughts?
why not just leave it for now and break it or melt it later if you even need to, perhaps the bond will weaken from heat/vibration in the meanwhile...
