Phantom Turn-on Problem

I have a 1st revision PPC-6700 (With white keyboard backlights and looser slide mechanism) The phone's screen turns on randomly when I'm roaming or when the voicemail icon goes away (minutes after a voicemail is deleted.) This is something that I've been dealing with using all ROMs including both official Sprint ROMs and Kirvin's 3.5 Clean ROM. Any suggestions? Is this affecting anyone else?

I had this problem, somewhat.

I eventually decided that it didn't matter that the screen would turn on when something was going on, like an email notification. I just turned my screen brightness on battery mode down.
