I emailed UTStarcom and asked this:

I use Microsoft voice command in my 6700 and it doesn't work properly. I was told by MS and I quote: "If you have a Windows Mobile 5.0 device prior to build 15097.3.0.0, you will not be able to receive spoken caller ID notifications through the Bluetooth headset. Windows Mobile with build number the same or higher than build 15097.3.0.0 includes support for Inband ringtone which is the mechanism that Voice Command uses for announcing caller ID information while the phone is ringing."

I have build 14928.2.2.0. Can you tell me when there will be an update? To either the higher build or to WM6?

This is the reply I got:

Verizon and UTStarcom will update the XV6700 to AKU3.3 this will make MS Voice Command work with Bluetooth headsets. That release will be some time in the mid 2nd quarter of this year.

I do think it is on the way!!

COOL!

An "official" 3.3?!? That sounds GREAT to me. I'm running 2.5 and I'm mostly happy with it. From what I've read around here 3.3 ought to be both faster and better for battery life, right?

I really admire all you guys who have the courage to cook your own ROMS and such, but I've been a little hesitant to upgrade to an UN-official AKU, just because of some of the problems I've read about on the site here.

Call me a wuss, but I just got my XV6700, and the honeymoon isn't over yet. This thing is probably the coolest piece of electronics I've ever bought, so I'm not quite ready to take much risk with it just yet.

So, for someone like me, an official release is definitely welcome news!
