Here's what I think I need to get Goodlink working on AKU3.X

So I was reading on the XDA site for the WM6 that works with the Cingular 8525 and it seems that they added this:

OS Version is edited to 5.1.195 (Build 17217.6.0.0) - XDA. This should allow Blackberry Connect (v2.1.2.31) & GoodLink to work with it.

Can someone edit a very plain AKU3.5 ROM with the numbers similar to AKU2.2 or earlier so that Goodlink will install on AKU3.5? I'd be willing to pay-pal some cash to someone for the effort. I love AKU3.5 but I can't live without Goodlink for work

Thanks!

Isn't the OS version just a registry entry?

Well AKU is anyway...
HKLM\SYSTEM\Versions\Aku
Change that to .6.0.0 and you'll get
Build xxxx.6.0.0

But apps are not supposed to rely on the AKU - bad app, bad!

I don't use goodlink...

What about changing the Build number? Where is that at? I think I need something like 14928 instead of 15698. That would do it, i bet!

Trying with it being Build 15698.2.2.0 didn't work so I'd like to change the build number as well. Where is it?

I still get error message:

Good Messaging is not
supported for the carrier:
SprintPCS.

Contact your IT Administrator.

Yet if I go back to Wideawakes AKU2.2 it will install no problem!

What else could it be if not the Build and AKU version?

Thanks!

dmack, do you have the links to the threads you were reading over there? I, too, would be surprised if the app was dependent upon the build data, but then again, it is possible. Did you try setting it to 6.0.0?

Guys,

Thanks for looking into this with me, I appreciate it. Here is the link from XDA's WM6.0 thread. Note where it says Misc:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296126

OS Version is edited to 5.1.195 (Build 17217.6.0.0) - XDA. This should allow Blackberry Connect (v2.1.2.31) & GoodLink to work with it.

Re: How you got Goodlink to work?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The os.nb file was hexedited to reflect OS Version of 5.1.195. The exact location and contents to change will vary for each device and Rom.
