Using windows vista

Hey guys just got my new laptop running Vista home premium and can not for the life of me get any of the roms/kitchens to install on my phone. Has anyone else found out a way to get this to work. Please help if you have any ideas on getting this to work.

It is my understanding that you cannot install the 3.5 rom from a Vista machine, it has to be installed from an XP machine. If you don't have access to an XP machine and own the XP OS on CD then you might try downloading / installing virtual PC free from Microsoft. With virtual PC you can install XP to run on your computer (does not involve partitioning your HD) within Vista and then just install the rom with XP on the virtual drive.....really simple to do. You may want to check to make sure that Virtual PC has USB support before doing so....without it you wouldn't be able to connect. Hope this helps!

This is what i was afraid of not only can i not get winrar to work correctly but aafter unpacking an an xp machine and repacking with correct files then trying to use on vista it just sits there trying to connect then erroring out. If anyone has found a way around this it would be much appreciated. Guess for now I'll just have to use the desktop.

It is possible just not easy.

Do a search on the forum for Vista. The correct thread links to a post on Buzzdev on how to do this.

I would post the link myself but I'm still under 8 posts so I can't.

I don't think Virtual PC supports USB.

In my case, I've upgraded 3 of the 4 computers in my house to Vista, leaving my low-end work laptop with XP for flashing. Getting a new high-end laptop this weekend - will likely dual boot it.
