LCD replacement

anyone have a reliable source for these other than Ebay?

the one I bought in may has failed, the back light won't come on at all, and they don't do returns/refunds.

I have my old screen, which lights up, but the touch portion of it doesn't work. I can't figure out how they expect you to solder that ribbon cable on without melting it or damaging the LCD from heat.

lets see..
$40 for first LCD replacement,
$11 for replacement touch screen,
$34 for replacement flex cable

$85 invested in repairs so far, and now I am looking at another $40 for another replacement screen.... ugggh.

Re: LCD replacement

I dont know of anywhere else but with the funds you spent in the beginning it would have been easier just to get a replacement. Now may be the time though.

Re: LCD replacement

yeah, I realize that.
unfortunately, I have gone over budget already, and an additional $100 isn't really feasible at the moment, especially since my computer monitor started acting up this morning. ... blurry and kept turning off, but seems OK now.

Re: LCD replacement

how is it an additional 100? Insurance claims are only 50 with VZW. Am I missing something?

crt or lcd monitor? either way blow it out with a can of compressed air...dust gets in the vents and gums up the works really bad causing it to overheat and turn off...also try and run a self post test on the monitor by pulling the cable from the back of it...turn it on and see if it runs the post test...as far as the lcd repair...your only option is to have it done via sprint why dont you have tep on your device???

your assuming I have insurance... if I did, I wouldn't have been buying and replacing parts like I have been

$100 is the average price I have seen for a used replacement.

CRT.... I have noticed lately that when I first fire it up, its a bit blurry till it warms up.
this morning was blurrier than normal, then the image on the screen looked like it was expanding, and then the screen went dark.. power cycled, same thing... after about 4 times, it came on and stayed on, and so far has been on for the rest of the day, so it isn't dead yet, but it is showing symptoms.

I can't complain too much, its a 19" flat screen CRT that I bought almost 8 years ago, paid $190 for it new, and has been a fantastic monitor, so it doesn't owe me a thing, but the timing could be a little better, I'd like to make it through one month without having to fix or replace something.....

Re: LCD replacement

I paid $40 for a new replacement screen from an ebay vendor. Was from a US seller and was the screen and digitizer as one. It was packaged in UT Starcom packaging so I assume it came directly from them at one point.

This was the second replacement I bought from ebay. The first one was $40 as well and actually only included the digitizer and not the LCD as described.

Ill see if I can dig up who i bought the screen from and pass on the info. Its been a while though.

You may have a good chance buying a damaged 6700 from ebay, there is a guy on there selling them for a Buy it now price of $39.99 plus shipping. He says they have a good screen. They would already have the digitizer attached and be an OEM piece so it should be good.

Re: LCD replacement

Here is one from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VERIZON-AUDIOVOX...QQcmdZViewItem

Basically phone is stuck in bootloader mode from description.

Could look at this one as well:
http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDIOVOX-PPC6700...QQcmdZViewItem

Both are US sellers.
