6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

Greetings to all!

I have searched both this site and google but I cannot seem to find an answer to my problem so please no responses telling me to do a search. With that said, here is my problem )

I have an xv6700 running helmi's wm6.1 rom. Everything worked great until I updated my radio from vs 1.00 to 1.41. I have 1.43 now after trying to update my radio to try and fix the problem.

When I get an incomming call it rings on the caller's side for 6 -8 rings before it even starts to ring on my end. I never had a complaint from my husband or friends until I did the radio upgrade.

I tried to figure out if the radio update was the cause of this but I wasn't able to find anything when doing my searches. I've also tried to find out how to downgrade my radio but both verizon's, UTStarcom, and HTC's website no longer has the links to the Apache's support pages.

Does anyone know if I am on the right track and if so what I can do? Am I completely wrong in my assumptions?

I don't think it could be the programs on my phone as I do a fresh flash with the kitchen and I still have this delayed incomming call rings.

However, when I dial out I don't seem to have that much of a noticeable delay between when I hit send and when it starts ringing.

I guess I am just totally confused and annoyed with this situation and would love any help you guys can provide!

Please and Thank you,

Ricky

Re: 6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

Many ppl have this issue if thier ring tones are stored on the card. Are yours?

Also see the reg edit below and more tweaks can be located here.

Force EV-DO/1X, quicker ring response

To do this, you will need your MSL, which only Sprint (or your provider) can provide you. Verizons cods is 000000 Open up the phone app and dial ##778 (PST). You will be asked to enter your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the provisioning of your phone. From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2).

Re: 6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

I have my slot cycle set to 0. There is a slight battery life change from 2 to 0.
I tried 2 to 1 and didn't notice a battery life change but it is noticable from 2 to 0.
But its the fastest way to get the incoming calls.
And with a 1500mah Seidio battery it always last atleast one full day.
I use the phone pretty heavily; wifi is connected at work, push email goes from 8am to 10pm daily; average 15 or so txt messages a day; and on average 3 to 4 times a day connect to remote servers via remote desktop.

Re: 6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

Wow, thank you weedahoe! I do have my ringer on my storage card but I will change that right away. I will also try the regedit you suggested as well as a few of the others.

You are awesome )

Re: 6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

Thank you PPCFreak! I will try go to from 2 to 1 and try that before I go to 0. My extended battery cover is missing a little connector thing after I stepped on it X

Thanks again )

You can order a new battery cover off ebay BTW or just use a piece of scotch tape to hold it in place

Re: 6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

You could also copy the ringer off your Mem card to the phone and use the file off the phone memory instead. My slot cycle is 1 and it seems to work fine without and battery drain.

Re: 6700 Incomming Call Delayed Ringer Help

Yes. Having ringers on card mem vs. phone mem will bring up delays.
Its highly recommended that all ringers be on phone memory vs. card memory.
