Question Who am I roaming on?

Hi all, have a quick question...

Is there any way to find out who's network I am on when I am data roaming from my PPC-6700?

I have data roamed at home the last two days. I checked my WAN IP and it was 70.13.240.146 one day and 70.14.10.245 the next day.

Sprint is my carrier and my phone indicates that I am data roaming, but those IPs belong to Sprint. I wouldn't think Sprint IPs would qualify as roaming.

Thanks,

Tomn8tr.

It would be roaming if the towers do not belong to sprint and sprint is leasing, that is why if you roam to much more then 50% of your total usage bill after bill sprint could cut you off, they have done it once, since it cost sprint when people roam and using other towers vice true sprint towers.

Even if the IP's belong to sprint you are not using sprint towers hence the roam icon.

granted sprint offers "unlimited roaming" but roaming is not intended for being the primary usage for the phone so you still need to be careful and limit the roaming usage even if your plan includes "unlimited roaming".....just read the fine print, sprint can terminate if most of your plan usage is roaming..bill after bill.

The bottom line is .. again it cost sprint $$$$ when people roam since you are using non sprint towers and sprint has to pay$$$ for the usage of data/voice being xmitted from the lease towers..etc.. and that is a big no no if you treat roaming like drinkng water.

Re: Who am I roaming on?

True - but then again if you read the sprint contract it basicly says they can terminate you whenever they want for whatever they want and they can change your plan without your concent when ever they want with a 30 day notice - so as far as I'm concerned their "contract" isn't worth the paper it's written on.

I would suggest the guy with the issue get a PRL update (##PRL , TALK) and perhaps that will keep him from roaming so much. Of course you can always setup to run on "home network only" and then you never have to worry about it.
