Unhappy Sprint PPC-6700 cannot data roam

Hi all, I had to replace my Sprint PPC-6700 because it accidentally dropped it into the toilet at work, yep... bad day!

My new PPC-6700 cannot connect to the Internet while roaming at all. My old 6700 connected great at all of the places this one refuses to. When I am in digital roam and try to connect to the Internet, I get an error the "The answering modem has disconnected". Another thing that is happening is that when I call *2 I am notified my phone needs an "Important Update". The message says the update is occuring, and then says the update is complete, but nothing at all is happening. Calling *2 again just repeats the process eternally.

I activated this phone myself at Sprint's site and everything seemed great until I tried to get data roaming.

Voice calls, voicemail and text messaging all work while roaming though.

Here's the stats on my new 6700:

ROM Version: 3.60.70 WWE (Kirvin Clean and Simple WM6)
ROM Date: 08/31/07
Radio Version: 1.43.00 (Also tried radio 1.41)
Protocol Version: SNAZ-40306
ExtROM Version: 0041
PRL Version: 20232 (have tried several PRLs as well)

One solution found in another thread that was tried, but did not help was:

">PPC-6700 Error: “No Modem Found At The Above Dialed Number”
>1. Tap Start - Settings - Connections Tab - Connections Icon
>2. Tap Manage Existing Modem Connections (My ISP, Sprint, etc)
>3. Tap and Hold to delete all modem connections
>4. Tap on Settings (Upper Left Corner) – Phone - Enter ##DATA#
>5. select edit and enter MSL then Tap on OK in the Lower Right corner
>6. Select Restore in the Lower Left corner
>7. Device will prompt to erase all custom data profiles accept
>8. Device will then prompt to select OK to reset the device…(no data will>be lost)
>9. After Power cycle follow step 1
>10. Then select add new modem connection
>11. Name the connection - Using cellular line - Enter #777
>12. Leave Username, Password, and domain all blank
>13. Select Finish in the Lower Left Corner
>14. Then Tap on Settings in the Upper Right Corner
>15. Select Internet Explorer
>16. Enter a URL then try and launch a web page
>17. You will be prompted to enter the username and password again, select
>OK, (do not enter any info)
>18. The device will show provisioning vision services please wait
>19. After the IOTA session finishes it will kick you back out to the same screen
>20. Try to launch the site again and it will populate"

I have also tried several PRLs manually, a manual IOTA refresh, and read countless threads.

Can anyone help me with this, I really need that data roaming!

Thanks so much!

Thumbs up Re: Sprint PPC-6700 cannot data roam - SOLVED -

-SOLVED-

The problem was my PRI version. I was at 1.17_003 and needed to get to 1.18_003.

The solution was found on this forum at:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ternet+roaming

I don't know how I missed that, but if anyone else runs into this, there you go...

I think what happened is that I went right from the "out of the box" ROM to WM6, skipping the intermediate OEM ROMs (which would have updated my PRI).

Anyhow, thanks all,

Tomn8tr.
