AKU 3.5 - Internet Sharing & Bluetooth PAN

Anyone know what the status is for getting Bluetooth PAN working under Internet Sharing in AKU 3.5?

I know that it's been reported before, but I just thought a new thread would be good to have for updates on this issue.

Like many other people, I get the "Cannot Connect" error message when trying to use this.
"Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."
This happens immediately after pressing the "Connect" button, so you really don't even need a BT client for getting past this stage of the bug.

I think one of the biggest reasons for this is that it seems like the Bluetooth PAN profile doesn't exist on the system at all. I can't find it when I'm discovering services on the Apache, I can't find a Bluetooth network adapter under the "Network Adapters" tab in the WiFi Control Panel applet, and there's no mention of it anywhere in Bluetooth Settings.

I took a look around on the Xda-Developers forums, and it looks like they have this working under Crossbow, and maybe even AKU 3.5. It might also be interesting to see how they got the A2DP hack to work in the early days of AKU 2. In fact, it would even be great if we could get native BT DUN working with a hack similar to the A2DP one.

Anyway, I'd like to help in any tests anyone would like to run to fix this. I have two Bluetooth enabled computers; one using a Microsoft BT Stack on a 1.2 USB dongle, and another using the Widcomm stack on an integrated 2.0 EDR module.

This is on the list of things to fix in the unified rom project. At this point we are working to get a stable kitchen to start bug fixing. It is in RC1 status at the moment so I expect we will start bug fixing soon.

I am personally a heavy user of BT teathering so this bug isnt going to fall through the cracks...

Yes.

there are dll calls that are needed in our blue-tooth driver that are not in the build we have from HTC. HTC has not, yet released a driver.

Several people are trying to rebuild the DLL with the required support, but it is not part of the driver we have, so hopes are not very high.

If HTC releases a 3.x or even crossbow driver, well we can/will be able to make use of that, but, if we have to work from the driver we have, it doesn't look that good.

You won't get it under the bluetooth settings when the driver doesnt support it. As said, some people are trying, but well, its a hunt and miss kind of thing.

Hmm... I know that the HTC Excalibur / T-Mobile Dash is an AKU 3 device right out of the box. I know it's a long shot, but do you think it's possible to get HTC Bluetooth drivers from that?

Q

similarly I was polling for PAN the other day in a meeting and found a Cingular Motorola Q that supported it. I can look into the registry and DLL's as I know someone who has an extra one sitting around

This has been fixed now by the way. It's on another thread in this forum. It's a small cab file you have to download and run on your ppc.

my only problem is that when my axim x51v connects to my 6700, it does a successful connect, but my axim doesn't recognize that it on the internet. i'm using the microsoft stack on my 6700, but the widcomm stack on my axim, build 3400. how do I get my axim to use the pan connection on my 6700, and be able to browse the net on my axim. In case I haven't mentioned, I'm using the AKU 3.5 on my 6700.
