Did ya do it via this method?

Hack: Enable Incoming Calls During EV-DO
To receive incoming calls while in an active EV-DO (Power Vision) data session, and are running firmware 2.06.00 or later, you will need to perform a master reset of the device. Dial ##786# into the phone like a regular phone number, then proceed to reset the device using the option displayed. This will require your MSL, which you will have to get from Sprint customer service. If you have never done this before, it's best to have technical support walk you through performing a master reset, and then reprogramming the phone. The master reset will erase all data (and settings) on the device. This will then allow for incoming calls while in an EV-DO data session, however, in a 1xRTT (Vision) data session calls will still be redirected to voicemail.

That's it.

It's obviously best to do it after the ROM upgrade since it requires a hard-reset () so if you can wait, do it when you're good and ready to do a new fresh install on your device.

Works well though.

Here are more detailed directions:

1. You need 3 numbers: The MDN (which is your cell phone number), the MSID, and the MSL. I called Sprint to get both the MSID and MSL numbers, though maybe there's a way to get them off of your phone?

2. Perform a reset by typing ##786# from the phone app. Be warned that this is a full hard reset, and will wipe all data.

3. After the reset is done and the device is booting, it automatically installs all the "customization" cabs. I let this finish completely, which took about 5 minutes.

4. Next, I re-programmed my MDN and MSID by typing ##XXXXXX# from the phone app. The "X"s in this case is your MSL number. (should be 6 digits I believe)

Finally, I went into settings --> phone --> services --> internet and then tapped "start" to begin the IOTA process. This took a few minutes.

After doing all this, incoming calls now interrupt my EVDO sessions. I'm not sure if there are better ways to get this done, but this is what I did and it worked for me.

Knock yourself out! (I didn't write it, ) There is a link at the bottom of the quote that is difficult to see, but you can cite that person as the source or just that whole thread. :thumbright:

1. Have your MSL code handy*
2. Download the PRL file
3. Unzip onto your phone
4. In phone, type ##775#, enter MSL code
5. Tap Update PRL, Then click edit
6. Select Browse, then click the file
7. Press Ok, Ok, Yes
8. Press Ok to reset the device

* If you need your MSL Code do this.
Call Sprint. Go to Activations line and get ahold of a human being. Tell them you are programming your phone and need your MSL code. They should give it to you no questions asked

There you are done. You have just manually updated your phone to the latest Sprint PRL without having to listen to CSR telling you your phone is already updated.

once the file is updated and the phone reset, the PRL file can be deleted right?

Sonin66 06-24-2006 03:35 AM
