Question VoIP SIP on PPC6700/WM6.1?

Hi, all...

I used BuildOS to create a new ROM w/ Helmi's 6.1 image... I chose the defaults + VoIP, but the VoIP config utility won't run...

Has anyone successfully configured VoIP and a SIP Phone on the PPC6700?

I'm setting up an Asterisk server and want to use SIP to dial over IP through Asterisk using my home phone...

Thx!
Jeff

when i had the apache and was using kitchens....voip didn't appear to work when cooked in. it was better to leave it out your kitchen....and install the cab.

I tried both and I never got it to work, it dials and the target phone rings but an error shows up in the PPC screen and doesn't let me to talk.

Re: VoIP SIP on PPC6700/WM6.1?

try to get incoming working first. rather then dialing the target phone, see if your apache will receive a voip call.

I'm not sure which voip software u're using.....but my preference is Custel's Voip.cab....and Schap's SetupVoip.cab.

Re: VoIP SIP on PPC6700/WM6.1?

I have it working with a Gizmo5 account - however the audio SUCKS. The person I'm talking to can hear me just fine, but it's almost impossible for me to hear the caller. If I use my bluetooth headset and I'm in a very quite place I can hear them barly enough to use it. If there was a way to boost the bluetooth volume..........

Re: VoIP SIP on PPC6700/WM6.1?

Thanks, guys. I'm going to Try Custel's ZIP - Just downloaded it - about to install it - BUT - since I've cooked and installed a new ROM, my WiFI won't find my home access point, even though it's broadcasting. WiFi config says 'Connecting to network.' but just sits there - I'm sure I'll need that working (grin) before I can try VoIP. Is there something special I must select in the Kitchen to make WiFi work? I used Helmi's default latest WM6.1 selections, and added VoIP and a few other items.

Also, where can I get Schap's setupvoip.cab?
Thanks!

Re: VoIP SIP on PPC6700/WM6.1?

not sure what's goin on wit your wifi..but voip should work over the phones evdo connection as well.

Install custel's first, then install setupvoip.
restart
in programs go to setup voip
enter your sip settings
under options select from the drop down only if cell is not available (this is just for incoming...u'd change it to make outgoing. we're testing and troubleshooting right now anyway so wanna make sure incoming's working first)
check enable voip over 3g....hit Done,
soft reset.
after the phone boots back up double check setup voip to make sure your settings are still there...
if not reenter and make sure you hit done and save and soft reset again.
start internet explorer to make sure u're connected to evdo or wifi.
then try calling the apache via voip.
