The only way I could get it to work is to go to the device manager and uninstall the Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter (MWMRA) under Network Adapters - then just leave the PPC cradled and it will quickly reinstall the driver. After the device driver reloads, it should automatically connect to your device and run the sync device wizard. I have to do this EVERY time I want to sync my contacts/pictures/etc... It will always sync once, then the next time I try it I have to uninstall that driver again. Its rather irritating. I think it may have to do with the fact that I use Internet Sharing a lot, which uses the same network protocol as WMDC does to sync. If I don't connect Internet Sharing between syncs it works fine every time, but once I run the sharing app I am back to reinstalling the adapter driver again... Hoping that this is just a bug in the MWMRA driver, and the MS will fix it soon (yah right...)

Anyway, try that and if it doesn't work, just completely reinstall WMDC again and see if that works. Good luck!

Also, I cant retrieve my Yahoo mail through outlook, is that a known problem also?

Does the ppc actually connect to WMDC or do you not even get that far? Have you checked both Activesync on the PPC and the WMDC to make sure that USB syncing is enabled? Open Activesync on your device and see if its actually trying to sync to your PC. Give me as much information as you can about what you have done thus far to troubleshoot, so I am not having to tell you to try things you may have already done.

Also, check with Windows Update with the device plugged and trying to sync. There is an updated driver (its like 7-8MB's) for the Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter... download it to see if it helps out. The driver date on the updated file should be 1/24/07 and the version number is 6.0.6783.0.

The new MWMRA driver fixes this problem. Make sure you have your 6700 hookup and run the window updates.

No, I have the new driver installed already and I have the same issue still. I can sync as many times as I want, until I run the internet sharing app. Once I connect with it, its done. The next time I try to sync, the phone shows that its connecting but never does, and WMDC doesn't even acknowledge the attempt. Once I uninstall the driver and let it re-install, all is well again - at least until I use ICS again... it sucks but I live with it.

Oh yeah, and to make matters worse it does the same exact thing when trying to sync via bluetooth.

I had the same problem until last week when windows update picked up a new driver and it started working fine. I dunno....

alternatives

how bout an online alternative?
you can try http://sites.mobile.yahoo.com/go/windows or even see if you can get a zyb.com account using a synthesis.ch syncML client.

To me this more likely a better approach and the privacy terms seems to be capped properly.

NOOOOW i get all the replys. lol. Well after reading around on the net all day yesterday at work. I came home and just deleted my mobile device on WMDC. Plugged in my phone and set up a new device. And BOOM, everything is there now. And my phone was fully syncing before, I just dont know why my contacts wouldnt load.

But i have a question now....I'm about to install AKU 3.5 on my device now. (sorry n00b here) When I do that, when i connect my phone, will it restore my contacts? Or do i have to tell WMDC that my new flashed phone is still my old phone. Sorry if i lost anyone
