It is the upgrade utility that flashes roms to your phone. The MaUpgradeUt_noID was created to get around issues with using the utilities that come with official upgrades. Thus, the need for bootloader mode. All these are are edited ones that give the proper instructions for bootloader and hard resetting along with proper pictures. It just helps avoid a lot of the mistakes that people make during a custom rom install.

ALWAYS FLASH BACK TO YOUR CARRIER'S OFFICIAL ROM BEFORE TAKING YOUR PHONE IN FOR SERVICE OF ANY KIND

Ok, thanks a bunch Colonel. In essence, if someone is comfortable putting their phone in bootloader mode, and flashing, then they really dont need these utilities.

Did I get that right?

Correct. This is more for people who are releasing roms as packages for people to install. Like my 3.3s for instance. Alot of people just grab and install them based upon the instructions that come up on the screen. I probably answered a hundred questions about putting the device in bootloader mode or people who did not do a proper hard reset after install.

The first time I put my 6700 in bootloader, I was nervous as hell. Thats simply due to all the horror stories I had read prior to doing so.

Now that I've done it, it's almost second nature to me. I know longer have the fear that I am doing to do something wrong.
