Can anyone tackle this?

I am a security consultant and use my 6700 to view and administer multiple CCTV DVRs remotely. I have a remote viewing program from one of my vendors that ony works on WM2003. I contacted the vendor about WM5 support and they said that they have no plans of updating this software. They also said that the software is an installers/consultants tool and they are not suppoting it anymore. I installed it on my 6700 and it runs (somewhat) but does not connect. Is it possible for someone to adapt this to WM5? I would gladly pay for the service. I can post or PM the program when needed.

Brian

I am interested to a point. I love problem solving, but it is just a matter of what exactly is not working. Is it a secured network that only the app you speak of will access? Proprietary (sp, its late) software can be an issue, but if it is just about compatibility, I would guess someone here could get it to work. Since they are not supporting it anymore, can you get the source code? Did they even write it? They seem very standoff-ish. As an easy solution, have you tried to setup a slingbox(s) or another working app to do this? Does the app directly access the DVRs or is it a remote program? Are they standard DVRs? How do they connect to the network\internet?

Depending on what language its in I could convert it for you. Like Colonel said.. If you can get ahold of the source let me know.

Just as a side note sometimes problem isnt wm5 as much as it is drivers. I've done some work with symbol and 2003/wm5 handheld scanners and usually compatability is fixed with drivers and rederected resource dependancies. AKA 20 minutes worth of work.

Also, it may work fine *if* you get the data session going before you launch it... fire up PIE and load some page, then try running it. It's a long shot, but worth the 30 seconds to try

It connects directly to the DVR. When I tried it on the 6700 the OK and Close buttons would only work if I had the keyboard open. I could enter in IP address of the DVRs but it would time out and say "connect fail". I will try to get the source code - it's probably a long shot. I will post the program for now and if there is anything you can do - I would be very grateful. I can also provide IP addresses to working demo DVRs if needed.

I tried to upload the file but I was told that .msi extensions are not allowed to be uploaded????

Again,

Thanks for the help

Colonel, Omegax...

Thanks for replying. The app is proprietary in that it will only connect to the sprecific branded DVR. The DVRs are PC based and connect to the internet just like any PC. They all have static IP addresses. I am still trying to get the source code, but hopefully the App posted above will help. If the source code is the only way then please let me know so I know when to give up hope.

Thanks again - we would not be where we are without people like yourselves.

I'm working on a "fix" that will emulate WM2003 dependency files. But if you want a truly WM5 adaptation the source is a must. Did you buy rights to this or just the product?

This is nothing that I bought or came with any program or DVR. It was a tool free for installers, technicians, and sales people to demonstrate the functionality of the DVR. The day it was released the company stated that it was not supported in any way - it's just available. They also said that it would not be commercially available because they had no intention of supporting it. I just know that it worked great under WM2003 and I would consider reverting back if it cannot work under WM5. That's how much it means to me.

Thanks again,

Brian
