Internet Connection Sharing

What is Internet Connection Sharing that's in these ROMs? I was used to "wireless modem" that was on the Sprint 6700. I downloaded the new ROM and now there's ICS and I don't know how to use it? Thanks in advance!

wmodem is still there and working ... but inet sharing is a wee bit faster if you already have activesync installed on your computer

basicly open it up... click on start and the phone will connect to VISION... once connected, hook in your USB cable... the phone will then DHCP an IP address to the computer just like a router would, and put you online

the connection will show up under network neighborhood as a NIC card.

hope this helps

Figured it out

Thanks to another post I just found, I got it working. I searched yesterday and couldn't find anything or get it to work. Today I post a question and then I find the answer.

Does ActiveSync have to be installed on the computer you are connecting to?

Does doing this throw the connection flag? I don't tether my phone, but it'd be nice to know if I could do this if I did get in a pinch.

Note, this is NOT faster than wireless modem (in fact it is slower) and wireless modem doesn't work anymore if you have 3.5 unless they fixed it in the last few days

I've tried that rom and wmodem didn't work. Internet sharing is definitely slower than wmodem. If you have slingbox, try tethering your 6700 with ics and wmodem and you will see a big difference. Not much difference if just browsing the internet.

nobrakes, make sure you are not trying to run the Modem Link app in the Programs folder if it is there. I think the link to wModem is broken and you would have to find it in \Windows
