Ring Tones Not!

First, thanks to everyone for being a great source of information on my new phone ( 2days old). I swapped the Rom with Col3.3 and everything went well. So well I tried Kirvins custom Rom also and changed back to Col3.3. The only problem I have is when I try to change the ring tone on my contact list. The unit lock ups and requires a soft reset to recover. It doesn't really lock up but is slowed down so much as to be unresponsive. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Thanks again
StevieJ

Are you changing it to a stock ringtone, or one that you added.

I couldn't duplicate this problem even with a 900k wav file ringtone.

Couple of trouble shooters:

Is the wav file corrupted?

Does this happen when you change incoming calls to that ringtone, or is it just from specific contacts?

Maybe someone else can help me out a little on this..
One of the .vol's may deal with this. Maybe a hard reset would work, just so it will rebuild all the .vol's

Its any ring tones. I just tap the Ring Tone line in the contact sheet and it locks up. When I try to change the default Ring Tone under Phone/Settings, I get the same behavior. Its not any special tone, just the standard installed tones. Weird.

I tried your hard reset, no go. The phone locks up immediately on going to the phone settings screen. No Ring Tone is displayed on the Phone Settings page or on a contact edit page. All ring tones appear in the Windows directory.

Thanks again

Well, I just went back to the Original Sprint 2.06 ROM downloaded from their site. I gives me the same behavior! On a whim, I pulled the 2G SD card I had and what do you know, everything works now. The SD card was not in for the ROM swaps, but used after to pass data. Put the card back in and problem returns. I will try to format the card and see if that works. All my new ringers were on that card under the folder ringers. Thanks for the help

Yep! thats it. I deleted everything off the card, reformatted, placed the data in a hidden folder called Sounds and everything works fine now. Thanks for the help!!!
