Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

Still, per this thread
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/archive/index.php/t-51.html
(could only find it with Google search, not with ppcgeeks own internal search - odd....),
the A-GPS data are accessible (works on my XV6900/Touch also .

It would seem some kind of programming could correlate the numbers with maps as Delorme Street Atlas and Google Maps do with "real" GPS data, even if not as precise as satellites.

FWIW

Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

Hi. I have worked with a surface mount resoldering station for a few years now. In my work I build custom USB sensors. I even repaired a USB thumb drive I sent through the wash! Anyway, if the only problem is lack of antenna, perhaps I can add one. If someone could provide the antenna schematic and identify the chip and pins it needs to attach to, I am pretty sure I could add it.

the 67 has an external ant mount but that still wont help you get GPS. Save yourself the trouble and get a 68 or something newer.

Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

weedahoe, Am I reading this correctly? Your profile says you use a 6700, but you're sig says you are using 6800 ROM? On the 6700?

Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

So, you are using 6800 and the pics you show are for the accessing internal GPS? Or is this external GPS?

Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

(OFF TOPIC) FYI, The server IP in your screen shot, 195.207.101.126, according to arin.net->ripe.net is registered to Belgium (benelux). This is Verizon!?! Strange that the GPS server is in Belgium. Of course if the octets are in reversed order, then it is registered in Japan. Still wierd.

Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

Youre looking to much into it and trying too hard, youre not going to get an IP from GPS not do you need an IP for GPS. I dont have data through VZW and use WiFi where ever I go and that I can be ghosted from anywhere or numerous type proxies.

Re: Anyone working on GPSOne 6700?

I think this would be easy to do however I'm lacking the skill to do it. If we go back in time a bit there was a trick if you called *228 then clicked on "Field Test" or somthing like that a menu would open and give you your location (Lat & Lon) . How hard would it be to make a interface that would do this for you ? Then a browser could open and the interface could send the location to google maps, showing your location. As long as 228 is not the police or EMS in ones location.
