Telus user here

Hello All,

I have been reading all the post regarding the ROM updates here and was wondering if the ROM updates would work on my device. It is a PPC 6700, however my carrier is Telus mobility as I am in Canada. Would anyone know if this ROM update can be applied to my device?

Update

According to Kirvin's FTP folder the NoJunk Rom was released Feb 28,2007 but now there is C&S Generic published May 15th. What are the differences between these? I am running the noJunk for my XV6700, but want the Bluetooth PAN to be fixed. I am hoping this updated ROM has those fixes. Can you chime in Jeff? Thanks.

C&S Generic is based on the release version of the Unified ROM Kitchen rather than the pre-release version. It doesn't have the Bluetooth PAN fixes that have been discussed, but you can add them to the kitchen and build a ROM yourself if you like.

Thanks for the post Jeff. So are there performance/stability improvements or what kind of changes are there? P.S. I'm not into the building my own yet; I just tried your ROM two weeks ago which was my first step into hacking my phone.

Mostly speed improvements.

Tasks don't "sort by"

After updating to AKU 3.5, which by the way is great so far by all accounts, my TASKS do not "sort by" any of criteria other than by subject i.e. Due Date, Start Date, Priority. Anyone else experiencing this and if so are there any corrective measures that can be applied to recitify it?

Seems to be a bug with AKU 3.x itself. I've seen it in all 3.3 and 3.5 ROMs. I believe Microsoft's official fix for this is WM6.

Again thanks Jeff.

Has anyone tried out Jeff's latest ROM? I'm interested, but I'm going on vacation next week so I don't want to mess with my phone right now.

Hi, badkarma -

Interesting ... My experience has been all over the board with AKU 3.5. Right now, my power usage appears to be back to normal (even though I haven't made any changes since the original flash/configuration). For the first few days, it was sucking my battery dry in just a handfull of hours, and now I can almost make it through a day with a single charge (as long as I don't make any calls).

My BT connectivity also is about what it was before. I don't know what was going on for a few days there, but your image seems to be functioning similar to JK's image now.

I'm still getting random DSODs (usually when I attemt to power up first thing in the morning) and losing my SD card frequently though, which I didn't see prior to loading JK's or your image.

Since I haven't seen any losses or benefits over JK's image, I'm keeping yours for now.

Cheers!

Has anyone managed to get the Vibrate to turn back on? I flashed my phone, and it is working fine. Then, I flashed my wife's phone, and the ... ahem ... "vibrating mechanism" will not work on hers. She says that she really needs it to work. I haven't really asked why, but she seems pretty insistent. Quite distraught, in fact.

OK, OK. I am really serious. My phone upgraded fine. Hers didn't. She goes to a lot of meetings and needs to be able to use the silent ring feature. I tried re-flashing the rom, nada. I tried flashing back to a Sprint -issued rom, nada. I then tried re-upgrading the the C&S rom. Still nothing.

Any ideas?

Mike
