some debug help, if somebody has some time.

On my latest rom, we removed the netcf1 and put the netcf2 oem in.

We did that ONLY because it was the only way to get the LiveSearch location by contacts to work.

Well, including netcf2 is gonna block a lot of other upgrades and possibly add problems down the line.

So here's what will help us in going forward, and, quite frankly, lets me stay on the blue tooth.

What I need is for somebody to try loading a rom w/o the netcf2 and see what combinations are necessary to get the live search running.

If you have time.. Please try to do the following:

1. download latest pre-release 2 from my directory.
2. extract it.
3. remove the OEM\netcf2 directory
4. Build it.
5. flash and reload.

I've been told that the netcf2 i have in that OEM folder has some remnants of netcf1 in it. So i suspicion that may be why we have to use that instead of just loading netcf2 from cab. so......

After you're flashed w/o netcf2 being "pre-installed" please try and install netcf1 and netcf2 both from a cab.

The install live search.

Finally see if that gets livesearch by contacts working.

If so, and you can confirm you will have helped us out a lot.

Thanks, in advance.

I will try when I get time. I am still trying to figure out your CBOW issues. Anyway, I don't think it was so much that we needed .NET CF2 to get the Live Search to work as opposed to the GAC files that needed to be swapped.

What problems will installing CF2 create? I know people seem to hate it, but it seems that more and more apps are needing it.

Pretty sure in past testing I was able to get the contacts thing to work with .netcf1, .netcf2 as well as .netcf1 + .netcf2. Colonol's right though, the problems we had recently were more an issue with the non netcf gac files.

Also, the reg entries referencing .netcf1 are all the 1.0.5000.0 entries in addition to the 7.0.5000.0 visualbasic entry.
