dead phone.

yesterday my phone stopped getting signal. i was at a friends house and usually don't get signal there anyways because its in a dead zone. got home still no signal. took the battery out let it set of awhile then put it back in still no signal. called alltel and they told me the phone is dead. well i'm kinda hoping a way to fix it because i don't have the money to replace it at the moment. using Apache WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) with radio 1.41. not sure if there is anything i can do to get the radio going again. well i hope thats the problem. is there anything i can do to fix it?

Re: dead phone.

Only thing I can recommend is hitting it with the stock ROM. I doubt that will work, as it sounds like the chip is physically dead.

Re: dead phone.

Believe me I tried that, I tried aftermaket radio flash, I tried replacing radio files, I tried cloning a good working phone and loaded the clone on non-radio working phone and that didnt work either. Obviously there were several hard resets along the way. Finally I just got a new phone.

Re: dead phone.

flashed it to a stock rom with no luck. updated radio to 1.43 nothing. tried a few things i saw on the board with no luck. went to the alltel store where i had the phone looked and the chip is official dead. going to pay the insurance fee and upgrade to the 6800. just have to wait a few days for the new shipment to come in. for now just going to have to use my razr till then.

Believe me there is nothing wrong with trying. Did they tell you that they were going to send a 68?

Re: dead phone.

Don't bury it. Give it to a forum member who needs parts. This kinda thing saved my *ss.
