will these new roms like colnels 3.5 ring through evdo?

I was looking up at the little symbols up top and noticed that when I'm online that the arrows are with the signal indicator now and the "ev" stays by itself. just wondering if its usung the internet like dial up or utilizing the evdo or what I have no idea.
