Help! Flashing LEDs not working

My LEDs stopped working a couple of days ago. I'm not sure if it's a blessing or not since I have used them for status indications such. But , if I do want to use them, any ideas? I turned all functions off and reset, no change. I also did a hard reset with no change. All ppc/phone functions work so should I even bother with this? Does this help battery life? And, no, I haven't been brave enough to try the new ROMs, would love to, but still running 2.2.

if they are still broken after a hard reset before installing any extra programs or personal settings then i would think it's a hardware problem. Does the vibrate still work? If so some people on this board might want to trade with you

HaHa. Just checked, and yes, vibrate does work. So what's the going rate for a vibration without flashy flashy?!

FYI replacing the cable (that the LEDs are attached to) wont fix it, its a board level problem.

There used to be a registry tweak back in the days of the 6601 that I used to kill the flashing LEDs.... I will have to go searching on pdaphonehome to find it...

Here's a quick update. Talked to Sprint ATS and my phone is bad. Now the right LED is amber, (usually indicating it's charging), when no charger is connected. Also, unless the phone is locked, it constantly wants to connect to the internet. So a replacement should be here tomorrow and I didn't even have to pay the $50 deductible. Have to send the old one back, but before I do, I think I'll play with a couple of ROMs.
