Need Proper Laptop Settings for USB DUN

I have been doing various searches, and reading a lot of different forums.. howard, xda, phonenews, etc.. And I can’t for the life of me sift through the massive amount of information I get back from the searches about USB dun, and now internet connection sharing. I’m in an EV-DO Rev A coverage area, and can’t for the life of me figure out why when using USB Dun or Internet Connect Sharing I only download @ 30K. I have full EV-DO bars. The icon on the laptop says 10mpbs with Connection Sharing and 210k on the modem.

My question is:
Is there a setting, patch, tweak I’m missing on the laptop to get these great EVDO speeds that everyone is raving about? I’m in the Chicago Area, downtown-loop (WORK) Westside (home). And can’t for the life of me figure out why I’m dl only at 30k this is very slow and I was told average 300-600k dl speeds.

Hopefully the great minds @ PPCGeeks can help me with my problem. I know its somewhere in the forums but theres to much information to sift through and the topics are kinda vague.

Thanks in advance for the help…

Your network connection of 10mpbs only affects throughput between ppc and laptop, although it is a USB network, because as we all know....everyone rides the bus -.-

30k/s doesn't seem that bad to me, when I used it before I would get somewhere between 20-50kb/second.

30kb/s = 240kbps

Qid you increase the modem max throughput to the highest setting? (idk if this is an option)

Also, the apache doesn't do Rev-A EVDO.

There are some threads on how to make it faster, as well as stuff like closing directpush, activesync and other programs on the ppc, not to mention throughput on the server end as well as your local computer stuff.

This may not be the answer you were looking for, but all of these factors def. affect bandwidth.

I could be mistaken, in case I've switched the numbers and you were only getting 3.75k/s download speed on a continuous file transer, in which case there would be a problem.

Chicago got Rev A? Eitherway, I'm using PDANet and it seems to work alot better than USBModem, give it a try. http://www.junefabrics.com/pdanet/

Um I just thought it would have been faster. 30k-50k is not fast to me but I guess t hat is 300kps-500kps guess I was thinking mbps (300mpbs 500mps ) instead of kbps. Guess these speeds correspond to all the rave... yay(i am not very happy then with EV-D0) ;(
