New Update for xv6700 coming out next month

I spoke to UTstarcom, maker of the Verizon PPC xv6700, since I was trying to get A2DP to work on my bluetooth stereo wireless adapter (which I got to work via a hack on the instructions on this forum). He informed me that a major update was going to be released for the xv6700 next month, so that's kind of cool. It would include A2DP for bluetooth stereo wireless. While the hack works, I hope the newer implementation of A2DP is better for bluetooth stereo.

I hope the new update makes the PPC faster and has less crashes. I guess some of the new rom sets on here have some of the features as the new update. Does anyone have updates on what this new update will do?

I asked about the xv6800 too, and he said it would come out sometime this year, and he thought it was delayed since they wanted to add windows mobile 6 to it, instead of windows mobile 5.

Take care,

I keep hearing musings of this, and though I'm a cynical curmudgeon who "will believe it when I see it", at least some part of me is excited at the possibility.

In the end it would make our custom ROMs much more stable, as what we're doing now is starting with an AKU 2.2 base (the latest available official Apache ROM) and bringing over files from other devices.

Having an official Apache AKU 3 will avoid a lot of the headaches that come from repurposing OS files from other devices.

So I join everyone else in keeping my fingers crossed... but...

"I'll believe it when I see it!"

I hope it comes out soon, I've been trying these 3.3s and 3.5s and my phone is worse than before as far as stability... trying to find out how to go back to original 2.2 or whatever.

I have found just the opposite, Colonel's 3.3 ROM is more stable for me than the Telecom 2.2 which was way better than the current Sprint 2.0 release. The 3.5's still need more work. If you really want to go back, browse to http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx and find your phone to get the current ROM.

Yeah i'm back as of now to my original... I can see how it's slower... but at least it's stable i guess.
Who knows maybe I didn't do something right on the installation process, but I thought I did.

i think 2.x is horrible.... i was having so many dsod's and random lock ups and all kinds of issues... after going to sardinours 3.3 and 3.5 i noticed a great increase in speed and reliability... however... i had problems connecting to the data network... so i reflashed the newest official release to see if it would connect... still wouldn't... verizon hasn't a clue so they're sending me a new one but i have to send the old one back so im gonna keep the official release on here... but wow... do i hate using it... its horrible... i keep having stupid shit happen... can't wait for the new phone to come and flash the rom back to sardinours

well, I think it will happen

The tech guy at UTStarcom seemed quite sure that the new update was going to happen soon. So I too will hope that he is right. Something to look forward to I suppose. I need good stable A2DP bluetooth stereo. Right now, it works, but it's kind of flaky.

But anything to help the system crashes and make it faster would be nice. I like the potential of the phone, and it's fun to play with as a power user, but it's far too buggy, slow, and complicated for most novice users to use. But until then, I guess we'll be the only ones that have almost a true pc on our ppcs. Seems like I play more with my ppc than my computer nowadays. Strange.

Take care!

Yeah a release version would be so much easier. It would be down to simple tweaks and customization. Keep your fingers crossed.
