WModem Error: "COM Open Error"

Does anyone get an error when trying to start WModem with AKU 3.5? Has anyone seen this error "COM OPEN ERROR". Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have seen it. I stopped using WModem for USB tethering and went to Internet Sharing. It does not have the issue that WModem has.

I have the same error and I'm now using the Internet Sharing app but does the Internet Sharing app register with Sprint that I'm tethering now?

I am also getting the same error. I do not get it when I select BT however. I can't test until I get home where my dongle is...

I have been told that Wireless Modem doesn't work with 3.5 ROMs and you need to use Internet Sharing instead. Fine, but then why do they still include Wireless Modem in the ROM?

I get that error "Sometimes"

like sometimes it works fine, the way i like it, and other times it doesnt... internet sharing PISSES ME OFF because you have to have activesync installed on the machine to use it.. if it got rid of that reliance then inet sharing would be the SHIZZLE!!!

I dont know if theres a workaround or a way to make it "always" work.... i dont even think its listed in the known issues with the current kitchen.

Trying to duplicate my steps... ive figured out a "Workaround" if you will...

open wmodem and click on start....
get the com open error & hit ok
open your web browser and make a vision connection (go to a site)
go back to wmodem and click start....
get the "end data call first error" and hit ok
go into the comm manager and shut off vision
go back to wmodem and click on start...

it will now connect and work as a modem

bizzare.... but after about 6 or so tries.... the above is the only way i can get it to connect.... i hope there is a better method but at least you can get it to work when you need to

I'm pretty sure wmodem worked fine in my 3.5 roms. I believe that was one of the things I tested in the beta2 rom.
