Re: Looking for your OEM ROM?

ok I am a complete newb when it comes to ppcs, but I could use some help.

I purchased a used ppc6700 (alltel branded) and activated it on my alltel prepaid account, and it works great, my wife likes the phone so I purchased another used ppc6700 but it is sprint branded. After trying the online esn swap unsuccessfully I need to know how to correct this situation, I've downloaded the Alltel Rom referenced in this thread, but now what do I do with it? I find bits and pieces of information about Msl's and other things I know nothing about, can someone please instruct me on how to make this phone work? I (and my wife) would appreciate it very much. Thanks for any help.

You do not do an ESN swap with a foreign ESN, whatever gave you the idea is beyond me. Anyhow, on a more serious note, you need to call Alltel and get them to add the ESN. Try not to tell them it's a Sprint device.

When I say ESN swap I mean on the alltel website, changing from the current phone on the plan's ESN to the PPC's ESN, the problem is in the sprint rom and how the phone accesses the network, I just need to flash the sprint rom to the alltel rom, is this possible?? Thanks.

That's what I'm talking about, you can't enter an ESN that isn't in their database unless you talk to someone who can add it.

Ya, it's like pulling teeth to get someone who knows what they are doing. On the bright side, at least it's not Alltel to Sprint. Would NEVER work.

Not only that, these reps are so arogant and think they know everything. I had an Alltel Vogue I wanted to activate with them so I tried to get them to do an ESP swap, I mean for crying out loud they own allmost all of Alltel. She said, "Sir I know what I am talking about, I have been working here for several years. Alltel goes with Alltel and Verizon goes with Verizon, the phones are totaly different and can not work on different networks."
