Tethering through Tunnel?

Just got my 6700 and was wondering if tethering through a tunnel would not be detected by VZW?

At work, on my desktop, I just have putty running a tunnel to my webserver and the then just proxy all my Internet traffic through there. All my place of employment sees through its firewall is encrypted traffic through a single port.

I was wondering if anyone was doing something similar on the apache?
