Custom ROM Size Question...

I searched around and not sure if this has been covered but what is the max size can we make our rom. I mean how do I know that I put too many applications in Will there be an error?

Also speaking of size, is there any ways to instruct the file to automatically be put in a certain folder instead of it copy to the/windows/ and from there we have we copy to another folder. I know with initflashfiles.txt I can create directory and copy files. But can we MOVE them. Basically I want to save space instead of having duble the files on our devices.
