Crash and Burn, now what?

My XV6700 slipped off my belt as I got out of the car. It was in a leather case and landed on pavement from an altitude of about 24 inches. Picked the thing up and was glad that I had purchased the case, but nooooooooo. The LCD and outer screen were shattered. Now, my fellow Apache experts, what should I do? I feel that this unit might be pretty fragile, but I still like the thing and would prefer to rebuild it. You know, like Steve Austin, but do we really have the technology? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chuck.

I'd say your best bets are:

Insurance from carrier, but if you didnt have it, too late,
or eBay.
(There are other semi-legal ways, but I digress...)

I almost bombed mine in the bathroom the other day -- I cant seem to stay off this forum for more than 5 min, and with a 3 yr old, I only get free time in the potty Fortunatly, I snatched it before it hit the floor, me and my cat like reflexes

Sorry about your luck.

Insurance, INsurance, INsurance.......I'm on my 8th one over the course of the past year. 2 shattered screens, volume slider falling off, 2 broken joysticks, keypad stopped working, etc.

You are right, I feel it is pretty cheaply made. However, every time I had a problem I just brought it to the Sprint store and they gave me a new one right on the spot.

Thanks for the advice. I bought it off E-Bay to save money. Now a new one with warranty sounds pretty cheap. Dohhhh! I'll ship it to Pocket PC Techs ASAP. "Penny wise, pound .... blah, blah, blah"

I was gonna say, there's not way you could be with Sprint! Wow, 8 phones in a year. I think with the insurance from Sprint you can only claim it twice. Or at least thats what was told to me when I signed up for it.

Had done same 3X...
Leather case no help when not in it.
Crashed onto concrete ground, plastic case got scarred and dented, but survived.
Now with "like-new" refurb so bought new case for it.
Latest drop onto cement ground (from car as well) was with seido crystal case and actually survived without dent or scratch. pretty good chioce.
Never had crack on this small a screen, but you may also want to try using invisishield for screen as well.

YUp, definitely sprint. I pay for the equipment replacement or whatever (highest insurance). They have never once made me go through Lockline or wait for a phone to be mailed to me. I simply go to a sprint store and the swap it right there on the spot for me (usually after waiting an hour for a tech to look at it and agree it needs to be replaced).
