Were you flashing a standard ROM or custom 6.0/6.1? Sounds like the ROM is too big.

I think the Boot Loader Version is 2.4. Now that I think about it that is on the screen when it goes black. I have used the same exact ROM on my other 6700 and it works great so I think the size is small enough. I was using the ppc kitchen and I think it would be a custom ROM 6.1.

Then you are probably stuck in bootloader. Follow that sticky at the top of the forum. Most likely 2.04, I haven't heard of 2.4.

Re: I'm getting a general Error message 116 when using kitchen

In the kitchen, be sure to select 2.04 in the Rev dropdown. That will select the correct update utility for your bootloader. Unfortunately, 2.04 and 2.05 roms are smaller than others, so successful loading of your rom on a different phone with unknown bootloader is not necessarily a reliable indicator. If you still have troubles with the update utility, you will need to revert the bootloader to 2.02 (there is a stickied thread on how to do this)

Re: I'm getting a general Error message 116 when using kitchen

i had seen the Rev drop down, but was unsure of what that meant. I thought it was the vesion of rom and I had 2.06.XXX or something like that. I will look for the boot loader version as soon as I have a chance. Thank you to all who have posted replies I am learning a lot just from your help.

Re: I'm getting a general Error message 116 when using kitchen

I just checked my phone and found out that the boot loader version is 2.02. So I guess that is a good thing? When I was using kitchen I didn't reset the boot loader version and had left it at 2.05. I don't know how much this would affect it but tonight I will try changing that and see if I have any more success than before.

Re: I'm getting a general Error message 116 when using kitchen

I tried again to update using Kitchen and experienced the same trouble. In the process it asks me to update the USB driver. I am getting a message that says Unknown USB device ect.................

I just completed a ROM update that is W5.1 and it connected and went through the process completely with no problems so I think the drivers are ok on the computer.

It really seems to be an issue with Kitchen Although I don't know how.

Re: I'm getting a general Error message 116 when using kitchen

Ok. I finally got it all figured out!!!
I had not chosen the correct boot loader mode in Kitchen and I did not have the device in boot loader mode when I started the kitchen. After doing those two things I was able to cook my ROM

Thanks to Everyone who helped me on this issue
