saving origional rom image for restoring ??

I am very interested in trying the new rom, but I have to retain a working phone! is there the ability to copy the rom as it sits and save it to a file to be reloaded in case I need to make the phone origional?

I use SPB Clone and with it you can go forward or backwards with any ROM already customized to your liking.
