serial port needed to fix car

So I have a program that will allow me to mod my car's computer, I use it for from my laptop with a usb to serial adapter and then have a special serial to DBII to plug into the car. I have the PPC version of the program and want to have it for emergancies (crazy old range rover air suspension) but I don't know what options i have to plug a serial cable to my xv6700. I don't need anything fancy, like bluetooth to serial. is their a usb reverser that would make my mini-usb on the phone convert to a full size usb to use the usb to serial converter?

software is:

Re: serial port needed to fix car

You can try to make your own cable. But I don't know if your phone or that program has the correct drivers for it to work. Here is a pinout of the EMU connector... Post 10

Re: serial port needed to fix car

I'm also intrested in this because I am working with a tuning company to datalog vital car information to a PPC. From my research, the Apache would have to support USB hosting, which it doesn't. If anyone knows anyways to accomplish this, please explain to me how I could get it to work.

The USB driver does not support the host interface, so no USB to serial adapter will work. I have seen several posts stating that the connector on the 6700 (Micro-AB) is specific to USB OTG, but since the driver only supports USB peripheral, it doesn't really matter.

Note also that the 6700 does not have an EMU USB connector.

You need a bluetooth to serial interface. The trick will be finding one that will work with your OBD II to serial adapter. Some of these are nothing more than pinned up cables and depend on both sides having a very wide electrical tolerance to work.
