ImCokeMan,

THanks for posting the update. I thought verizonguy managed to fix the smartdial, ## issue and USB. I could be wrong but I thought he posted he managed to fix those issue in his custom. I'm a complete newbie here so of course no one should take my post at face value, I'm just suggesting that there might be fixes to some of these things.

I would love a base 3.5 without some of the add ins and removals of the verizonguy custom. But it is great that so many of you are working so hard on this - too bad HTC doesn't put this much effort in!

I'm not sure what if this is because of AKU 3.5 or not but pressing down on the joystick to zoom in on Live Search maps doesn't work reliably. This might be because of the other problems with Live Search and AKU 3.5 - I don't know. That is the only app I ever used the joystick for believe it or not so I can't give you much info but I did see another post in pdaphonehome with someone else having joystick issues.

Again, I thank everyone who has helped out to get my phone to where it is today.

I downloaded helmi_Apache_kitchen_3.5_PPCGeeks.rar in the Apache folder on the FTP site because it was uploaded yesterday. (I read in another thread that it was uploaded and fixed several errors, which is how I found it.) With the help of others here, I cooked the ROM and sent it to my mobile. Unfortunately, after a hard reset, I get a generic UT Starcom splash screen and it hangs. I tried a combination of soft and hard resets and the same thing happened. I left it for a few minutes, and nothing. (I noticed that at this point, a hard reset looked identical to a soft reset. No "Are you sure" dialogues. Just straight to the splash screen.) Was I wrong downloading the kitchen from the Apache folder, or should I have downloaded the 1.1 version from another folder, even though it appears to be a couple days older? (From February 16, instead of February 21.)

I reflashed to Helmi's AKU 3.3 in the meantime, and will begin testing while I wait to see if I get a response here.

In the meantime, it would appear that I am in the same boat as Jamesus. I am also a TELUS Mobility customer and am experiencing freezing after a hard reset after the upgrade.

For those concerned that they might damage their mobiles due to problems with the radio, pay careful attention to the dialogues in the final executable that applies the update to your mobile. The only portion that should contain an update is the ROM. The radio portion should be blank. If you see anything else here, I would advise you proceed with extreme caution. Nothing that anyone here has produced should be concerning itself with the radio in your mobile.

Check out the kitchen that ImCoKeMaN put together...I am using that one as of right now and I had no problems cooking the kitchen. I didn't add any OEMs yet, but I cooked a ROM before I left for work. I'll be making another one shortly...

Thank you. I will try that shortly. There are so many ROMs that it is difficult to keep track of each. The "master thread" that contains the different ROMs makes it easy to see how many there are, but it doesn't really expand on that any further. It seems that everyone is adding their own OEMs and just rebadging it as their own. I could do that, but I'm not obnoxious enough to think that what I consider a valuable piece of software is something that everyone thinks is a valuable piece of software. Not to say that these people are obnoxious, just that I think it is a much better idea fo release a single vanilla ROM and let people customize it -- that is what the kitchen is for, for Pete's sake. It seems that there are ROMs out there from people who didn't even know what the kitchen was last week, and it just makes he go, "Guh?"

Sorry for the rant. It's just something that has been getting on my nerves more and more the past few days.

There is a movement to 'standardize' kitchen, essentially making a 'stable' kitchen with all bug fixes and some minor tweaks. It sounds like a very promising endeavor. Check the threads for PPC Group Project in the Apache section

I have been keeping up with that thread and I hope that it comes to fruition. It is just frustrating in the meantime.

Thanks again for your help.

I know what you mean. Patience though as it will be well worth the wait!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Windows Mobile 6. But that is a completely different can of worms.
