phone skin that has speed dial button?

I flashed my ROM to WM6 and now the phone has no speed dial button (you have to go through the options to find the speed dial list). Is there a skin somewhere that has a "speed dial" button and a "speakerphone" button on the same screen (so that I don't have to use the Menu at all)?

thanks; I installed it without error but I don't see it on my device - where do I run it and choose a skin for the phone?

Mike, you generally can't install applications or zip files directly on the XV6700 or any smartphone/PDA (unless this has changed in WM6).

You need to re-download the zip file, but this time to your PC and unzip it there. You may also want to use Total Commander or another file explorer program to delete the zip files on your PDA before you proceed further.

What you do next depends on whether the resulting file is a .cab or .exe file. If it is anything but a cab file, you must run the program on your PC; cab files may be run on either the PC or your PDA. Sometimes, sites give you a choice as to which type to download.

In any event, make sure both devices are Activesynced. Only then should you copy your cab file to the PDA, use your file explorer to find and run it. If you run the cab on the PC or if it's another type of application, like exe, you will copy the resulting programs to the device using Activesync. (I think it prompts you on this, but it's been awhile.)

Do you know off hand if this phone fix works on WM 5.0 also? Well, I'll check.

If things are different with WM 6, I'm sure somebody will correct me.

Wow, I can't believe I actually know something!

sorry, I hadn't been clear. I got the .cab file out of it and installed fine on my phone. What I didn't know was how to actually make the phone change skins. Turns out, a warm reset is necessary after the install, and then it works!

I use programs like "Pocket RAR" (freeware) which will let you unzip/unrar programs on smartphone/pda and just like ileanadu stated.....if it is a "cab" file it must be run on the smartphone/pda. Now some "exe" are made to run on a smartphone/pda....but you will not know untill you try to run the "exe" file if you get an error...most likely it is a pc "exe" file which then will load the program via activesync when run on the pc. It is a hit and miss on the "exe" files

Example:Pimbackup.....once you unzip/unrar....the program is ready to run...just click on the pimbackup program and it will run the program. So on this program you can d/l the file straight to the smartphone/pda then unzip/unrar and you are ready to rock and roll no need to install since it does not unzip/unrar as a cab it unzip/unrar as a "exe" but a "exe" for the smartphone/pda and not a "exe" for the pc.

Re: phone skin that has speed dial button?

Thanks for sharing the dialer, not having the speed dial on top was my biggest beef with this phone. It made no sense to drill into a menu to get to a speed dial, taking the speed out of dialer. This worked, just run the cab file once it is on the phone, then a soft reset and you are all set.

Thanks again.
