Re: how to get past align screen?
i really don't know how to answer that. i doubt i would let it be.. what good is it if you can't use it?
maybe some options 1. sell it on ebay noting the malfunction + with a new digitizer if the buyer wants to install it. 2. ask on the forums if anyone has any experience in replacing it for advice or pay them to fix it. 3. check youtube for replacing case ppc 6700 or something like that 4. do it yourself and cross your fingers during boot up. : ) |

Re: how to get past align screen?
I have done this (replace screen) and I can strip a PPC 6700 to the component parts in about 10 minutes. I have done this with the one I am running now a couple times, even trading out the blue backlight keyboard for the white backlight keyboard.I strongly recommend changing the screen and digitizer if you haven't done it before, because then it's only one unit, and two plug in connectors. Peeling off the old digitizer isn't the issue here, it's getting the new one on and functional.

Re: how to get past align screen?
I'd give it about a 6. I did some searching(hence the disassembly I posted earlier) and did the deed. You might want to pick up a jewlers screwdriver set, and a T-6 Torx driver. Taking it apart is fairly easy once you know what to remove when (I can help with that) and doing the screen swap is not too bad. You will be totally exposing the motherboard in the process and need to be very careful about static discharge, but other than that it's do-able. I replaced the screen on mine in about 40 minutes, start to finish, but had experience with the PPC. I'd estimate for you at least 2 hours with a little help.

lol 2 hours thats quite alot but oh well its for the best
i just think its dumb that to replace the front the digitizer you have to take everything apart starting from the back u know |
