luv2chill: I will add the path back in and leave it blank and report back (I was wondering about this anyway). I have not tried assigning it to another button as I only plan to use 5 (and can make it work at the loss of press and hold), but will test for better detail on what may be happening.

As to getting button 5 to work. You can assign Button 5 to VC as a "press and hold". Then just pressing button 5 will envoke Vc (no press and hold functionality, you loose this but in turn gain a way to press it again to decativate VC wich you can not do when press and hold works). This is how I set this up in my rom prior to your hack. After adopting it in my rom I began to see the other behavior.

So is the lock issue common with the hack and not rom dependent?

So removing the path and leaving it blank, seems to work. This was intermittant before as it would sometimes work after a soft-reset, but I have taken it through some paces and its still working 100%. I'll report back later today to see if that is still the case, if so you may want to revise the main title to get people to stop using the origianl path value.
Good catch!

Button 5 works....sort of

I'm running saridnour's 3.5+PR5 now. I put the .exe in the windows folder and a shortcut to the startup folder and I have assigned Voice command to button 5. I have also done the registry tweak here, but it made no difference.

The problem is, after turning off or after a soft reset, button 5 doesn't work when I press it. However, when I press and hold, record will launch (as assigned). From then on, regular press works works fine for MSVC until the next soft reset.

Forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere. I couldn't find anything.

Added 3/11: When I do get Voice command to work, it tends to hang and then quit due to Low Memory. I have PLENTY of memory available (20MB+). The only way to get it to run again is to press and hold button 5 to launch Record. VC then works until it quits from low memory, or I turn off the phone, or a soft reset. Help!

Another update: I just noticed that this happens no matter which button VC is assigned to, so maybe this isn't the place for my problem. Still, any help would be appreciated.

Where do I get audio.exe? I searched and it was not found? Once I do find this file what directory do I copy it to?

It is a program called IDTransfer. Can be found in downloads.

I have 6700, Jawbone, and 1.5 Voice Command. I want to be able to activate VC by hitting the button on my Jawbone. Will your program do this for me?

Thanks,

To use Voice Command 1.5 with a bt headset you need to use a registry editor to change the "path" value to "\program files\voice command\voicecmd.exe". Voice Command 1.6 is completely different.

luv2chill,

Can you explain how I can make the reg hack. I have reg edit on my phone. I just dont know where to find the "path" you are speaking of.

Thanks,

PS - Is there a way to upgrade to VoiceCommand 1.6 or does it cost money?

Yes it costs money. You have to buy it again.

The path you need is in the first post. Here it is again:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand

The Path value is under there.

Sorry to bother you, but when I try to enter the new "path" value to

\program files\voice command\voicecmd.exe

the editor I am using "RegEdit" will not let me type past

\program files\voice command\v

Am I doing something wrong?

Again, sorry to be a pest!
