Upgrading to Apache WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) help

SO i have a xv6700 which has been flashed over to cricket manually but whenn i try the upgrade with the Cricket rom it says that this rom upgrade is not design for me device so i then downloaded the verizon rom and this one tells me that it cannot get device data so idk what to do should i try the Generic rom or is this upgrade not available to me because my xv6700 has been flashed?

This is a pretty complex question since you changed a XV6700 (designed for Verizon) to Cricket. I would post to the upgrade subforum:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53

They will know right away. Good Luck. Hope you don't have to resort to becoming a VZW customer!

Also, try using the newer kitchen:

Angry Re: Upgrading to Apache WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) help

okay where do i begin? first off im a complete "noob" so bare with me. just bought ppc-6700 for alltel used. it worked fine i upgraded from wm5 to wm6. soon after the upgrade the buttons on the front of the phone (start, ok, talk etc...) no longer work. the only one that works is the little navigation button. whether that has anything to do with the upgrade, beats me... just thought some one might have some insight. my main concern is downgrading back to wm5. i have a warranty with the phone so i plan on exchaning the phone but need to go back to wm5 in order to do so. i downloaded the original rom from utstarcom but when i try to run it i get "error 120: country id error" i've been searching all weekend for a way to downgrade but haven't come up with anything. actually learned a great deal but not much on downgrading. lol
so if anyone out there can offer any assistance in helping me downgrade back to wm5 i would truly appreciate it. im dying to go get another phone so i can continue modding. thanx again

I believe that this happens when the ROM is too big. You have to be careful when you load an already cooked ROM onto your system. Which bootloader version do you have? I think you had trouble installing the ROM because your RUU was not set right for your bootloader version. Bootloader versions 2.XX have a smaller ROM space allocated than bootloader 1.XX. If you would have cooked your own ROM, you specify the bootloader, and the kitchen will calculate if it is too big or not. It may not be technically what is going on but it is an explanation. This is from what I have read. So, I don't know if you can get back to a point that you can flash from again but if you really want to upgrade, I would consider using the kitchen.

Are you stuck in bootloader mode? You mentioned that the screen is "white". Is that where it is stuck? Again, I think you'd be best to post to the other forum. I seem to remember that alot of problems arise with that 2.5 bootloader. You may have to downgrade that. But I don't know how to get you unstuck. Gguruusa will know over there.

yeah i posted it over there to im just waiting for their response but no im not stuck in bootloader mode i can acces it if i want and get out of it. but ok you know how when the phone turns on it gives you information lik the h/w+= m= u= and all that so after that screen it just turns white and after that likes 2 seconds later it makes a ding sound then it stops working idk if thatmade sense but yeah

Re: Upgrading to Apache WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) help

Good, this is a much better description of the problem. Your initial posts should be like this with all pertinent info. Then there is not so much back and forth. I've heard the problem before but I can't think of how to fix it. I'm sure you will get a response soon over there.

So, reading more carefully, you can access bootloader mode and get out of it. So why can't you cook a smaller ROM and reflash it? Or at least reflash to your stock ROM?
