Thanks for posting your exchange with Tom. I am not sure if he tested an Apache with a different keyboard driver or if maybe it wasn't really an Apache, but I just ran PQzCheck on a stock Sprint 6700 and got the same results as last time:

Shift gives the following key code:

DOWN 0xF2 OFF
UP 0xF2 OFF

Alt gives this key code:

DOWN 0xF1 OFF
UP 0xF1 OFF

Those codes appear as soon as the button is pressed and released--it doesn't wait until you press the next key like some other devices.

I encourage you to try this yourself and see. I haven't been able to get PQZ_Check to run on colonel's beta AKU 3.3 ROM (let me know if you can) but it runs just fine on the AKU 2 and 2.2 ROMs.

If you can corroborate my findings then maybe you can try replying to Tom's last e-mail and see if you can't get his attention that way. Lord knows there are many Apache users who would be very happy to have that functionality.

luv2chill, I just downloaded PQz_CHECK Ver 0.0.3, IT WORKS!. I am running colonel's beta AKU 3.3 ROM. I am not sure but I think it is beta 2, I don't remember exactly. I do see the K on the boot splash.

I will dig the thread out of my archive folder and reply to Tom with your findings.

Thanks...

So, does anyone know if there is an update on this?

Out of all of the hacks that exist for this device, I am really surprised that someone hasn't created something for this issue, because to me, it is the single MOST annoying aspect of the unit...

However, maybe that is just because I always end up locking it in "alt" mode to enter numbers in a password field, and then forget to switch back, and since it is a password field, I have no idea that it is locked in alt mode.....then I have to open up notepad just to figure it out.

Bump..

This is the only thing that drives me insane about my 6700, and it may be the only reason for me to upgrade to the 6800. this looks to be a pretty expensive ($500) feature.

Is there any hope, was there ever any response from the PQzII developer?

Somebody help..
