Any solution to running iGuidance w/ theme.ini under AKU3.3?

Ok, it seems that iGuidance tends to crash most often when two things are added:

1) Adding the "nowarning" parameter to the iGuidanceQVGA shortcut
2) Adding the theme.ini in the iGuidance folder

Has anyone else run into this? Are there any solutions, particularly getting theme.ini to work?

I never thought of taking the theme.ini file out and trying it. Will try that and update if iguidance still crashes or not. Whats the "nowarning" parameter for? never saw it before. Could you also post the context of your theme.ini file. This is mine.

The "nowarning" parameter which u can add to the shortcut bypasses the Warning screen in the beginning when u open up iGuidance.

I checked it out yesterday and you were absolutely correct. Without the theme.ini file iguidance didnt crash during full screen mode, but once i put it back in it did. Now since you tried a blank theme.ini file that leads me to believe that it is nothing in the file that is corrupting it. There are other .ini files in the PPC and none of them are causing problems, so this is a tough one to decipher.

how to stop iguidance from switching full screen mode

I have the same issue. It seems to crash when you start to move (iguidance is trying to auto swich to full screen mode when it detects speed change.) I think this related to the .NET framework. with .NET CF2, it seems more often. Full screen mode needs some kind of api call.
I do not want to go back to .NET CF1, does anyone know how to disable fullscreen mode?

If anyone is able to run IGuidance with a 3.5 AKU please post your registry iNav settings so that I can try yours out. Here are mine (which cause iNav to crash in a minute after running or less):

We solved the Iguidance crash problem. The problem was that the 3.00 maps are not compatible with the 3.01 maps. Solution was to reinstall the maps with the 3.01 installer. See pdaphonehome dot com/forums/612624-post340. h t m l.

Are you sure it fixed the fullscreen crash issue

I went back to 2.06 ROM due to the iGuidance 3.01 fullscreen mode crashing issue. In my case, it is not related to theme.ini, not related to other program, since I do not use theme.ini and it crashs with a bare ROM (AKU2.5 PR2). The reasons I want to conform before loading the 3.5 ROM again are the following:

1) I am using the same map loaded by the same loader, it works fine under 2.06ROM, but crashs under AKU3.5

2) I just compared the map loader that comes with 3.0 and 3.01 patches, they show the same versm 1.0.5.4NA. It's possible that they forgot to update the version, but it is unlikely. My point is: If the map loader version is the same, it probably will not make any difference.

So please confirm if the solution fix is just for the theme.ini crashing issue or the fullscreen crashing issue even without theme.ini.

Thanks in adavance.

You can safely upgrade. Known conditions for Iguidance crashing now include:

1) using a theme.ini file
2) failing to use the 3.01 installer to install maps directly to the storage card directly using the Iguidance software AFTER the rom upgrade WITH the latest activesync.
3) Claimed yet probably not a problem: use of full screen utilities like batti.
4) Claimed yet probably not a problem: Skipping the warning via regedit (which only works once) or the command line.

You are wrong that the 3.01 installer is completely the same. Fact: the 3.00 installer (for who knows why) wouldn't install the maps locally to my ppc. I had to install them to the harddrive on my laptop and manually copy them over.

Summary: you are good to upgrade to 3.5. After the upgrade, install Iguidance fresh to the storage card using 3.01 AND using latest activesync. It should warn you that the old maps will be written over. There are no current reports indicating otherwise, but report here your results anyway. Enjoy Iguidance under 3.5 AKUs. Like BigJ's, who has the best one IMO.
