I think your first issue is that your SaskTel Apache's MSL is not 111111. If it was then that code would work in QPST.

You use the same drivers for Bitpim as you do for QPST. You shouldn't rely on auto detection--always pull up the list of ports. Do you see the two Qualcomm ports?

Oh, and make absolutely certain that QPST (and any other PST apps) are not running on your PC when you open up Bitpim.

Although in any case, you should be safe buying the Verizon phone because all Verizon phones have a MSL of 000000 (you can google it if you don't believe me).

And I'm not sure about Canada's laws in this regard, but cloning an ESN is 100% illegal in the US, so be careful.
