It sounds like you want to change the "user agent", Here is the info from the following thread: http://ppcgeeks.com/wm5-registry-hac...tion-t113.html
Change the 'user agent' identification of Pocket Internet Explorer To change the 'user agent' identification of Pocket Internet Explorer, several fields need to be adjusted. The example shows how to identify as Internet Explorer 6 - desktop version The standard compliance 'user-agent' string: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\5.0\User Agent\(Default) = "Mozilla/4.0" (REG_SZ string, no quotes) Defaults to "Mozilla/2.0" The application/version string: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Version = "MSIE 6.0" (REG_SZ string, no quotes) Defaults to "MSIE 4.01" The host operating system string: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Platform = "Windows NT 5.0" (REG_SZ string, no quotes) Defaults to "Windows CE" Please note that if you change the Platform string, PDA-friendly sites may stop sending you PDA-friendly content automatically. Leave this string set to "Windows CE" unless a site absolutely refuses to work, or you want the site to feed you its normal content. |

before you take those drastic measures (some of which won't even work to force it to display a pda type setting) go into settings from your orb menu and select skin/display as being "pda" or "phone". then make sure pie has cookies on and every time you log in from the 6700 it will display it with the pda skin,
btw, I think there is another registry somewhere for user agent, because if you goto ipchicken.com even AFTER you make those registry settings, it shows internet explorer as being 6.8 |

yes, absolutely. if you have a tv tuner installed they have made WONDERFUL menus for the "program guide", much much MUCH better than ever before, and faster loading. it is almost like tv guide except no waiting.

I upgraded to Orb2.0, but hated it. It was SLOW, Bandwidth heavy and quite buggy. I downgraded to 1.0 because I like it's simplicity. Orb 2.0 doesn't really get me anything more than what 1.0 offers. Yes, the program guide is a bit nicer, but I didn't really use it that much.
As far as changing the user agent, it seems that the AKU3.3 settings were already set to the IE6 settings by default. Are the user agent settings in AKU3.3 normally set to IE6 or is that something perhaps Helmi_c changed in his version? sledgie, you're right, I changed my user agent settings back and ipchicken still shows the same thing. You mentioned a skin/display under orb settings. I can only assume you mean orb2.0. I don't see anything like that in orb 1.0. Perhaps it's time to look at 2.0 again. Maybe they've fixed all the bugs and improved things. Robb |

I used 1.0 for a while, upgraded to 2 but felt the same you did, too buggy and much too slow. they just corrected a lot of issues for ppc recently (2.0820 update or something) and I've been running orb through tcpmp using the winamp stream in orb. version 1 does indeed have the "force pda" skin, its under "setup" or "status" at the bottom of the pie screen. the new aku 3.3 (which is what I'm using too) gives me a headache now on some pda sites - it shows the pda formatted screen briefly and then reverts to IE 6 or whatever. no matter what I change (even the windows ce instead of windows nt setting) www.xboxlive.com still shows me all the graphics long load times etc. instead of simple links. sometimes simplicity *IS* better.
that being said I like the old orb 1 better for PC, but orb 2 works on my 6700 better than 1 did. |

I'm not seeing it sledgie! I see no status or setup at bottom of screen.
At least not on v1.0 Look again on your PPC. Hold my hand... walk me through it. Robb |

Robb; I'm using Orb 2.0, so I can't help you with the prior 1.0 version. I was having a problem clicking on the Sign-In button using Internet Explorer Mobile (3.3 ROM), as it wouldn't acknowledge the Sign-In selection. I logged into Orb from my PC and selected; Open Application - Control Panel - Skin. There is a section at the bottom called Change User Interface and I clicked on the link called "Mobile Interface". Once I was in Mobile Interface mode, I added this as a bookmark to my Mobile Favorites (https://mycast.orb.com/orb/html/inde...wserHeight=587). I let ActiveSync add the Mobile Favorite to my 6700. I was then able to go to that favorite on the 6700 and everything worked in Orb as expected.

robb,
its been a while since I used v1 (last time was from nov-dec when I was hospitalized and was watching tv 24/7 via my handheld instead of paying the $10 hospital fee lol) but I had the same issues essentially, I couldn't get the pda skin to work. now I know my memory is slightly faulty, but there is a settings menu in v1 that lets you decide between a couple things, what type of stream you want sent (wmv or winamp/.pls or .3gp etc) and what speed your stream should be sent at. in addition, it says something like "skin" or "display", however since you aren't seeing these options, try logging in from your pc and seeing if you see anything like that from IE 6 or IE 7 or firefox. I am almost *certain* ORB changed the language from "phone" skin to "pda/phone" skin from update v1 to v2, which is why this is sticking in my head so much about the skin display. once I get to a pc i'll einstall v1 and see if I can find it (might be later tonight or tomorrow) sledgie |
